A: It is the bank’s best interest to do a short sale rather than foreclose. Here are some of the reasons:
  • It costs the lender money to foreclose on the property. They have to pay attorneys fees and costs. This can run as high as 40% of the loan amount for holding cost, attorney fees, real estate commissions, maintenance and repairs to the home.
